I noticed that this much thicker than others which what I was looking for. I use it as my bedspread and am really happy. Not too heavy, not as soft as cashmere or merino but well made. Great value!I ordered this wool blanket, and then read some negative reviews. I was prepared to return it.My order history will show I have only ever returned 1 item…(a size 11 shoe, sent instead of the size 7 requested). This blanket is fine! The negative reviews confuse me….perhaps they are not accustomed to wool, rather than synthetic fibers.I will be keeping it, and will order a couple more.I am not a paid reviewer.I am a practical old Vermont teacher. This blanket is just fine. This blanket is near perfection except for its enormous size. It is gloriously soft, a good, light weigh yet still warm and the blue which I purchased is gorgeous. The one difficulty is it's enormous size which makes it cumbersome when making up a king bed. That said, I would buy another one if I needed it!.double it over and you have a weighted blanket! There is nothing that is not right with this product. I have not laundered it and that is a big factor, but the size is great, the weight is great and it's attractive. It is lightweight, but heavier than my cotton blankets. Because I only use natural products, I was anxious to delete my fiber filled bedspread, but needed it for warmth. At some point every night it got too hot. The wool has the same weight and is really warm, but does not overheat because it breathes.I live in a 100-year-old house without enough insulation. It can get cold at night. I use this blanket on top of flannel sheets and under a cotton bed spread. It keeps me warm without getting too hot. I prefer it to an electric blanket. I haven’t noticed it shedding because I’m using it as a blanket and not a bedspread. The blanket is soft and not itchy at all to me. It doesn’t have an odor. It adds warmth without being too heavy. I don’t like the look of comforters. The blanket allows for the warmth of a comforter in a neatly made bed.I haven’t washed it yet. I wash the sheets and spread it is sandwiched between weekly so it doesn’t seem to need to be washed. I’ll likely take it to a dry cleaner.I don’t think the fabric is substantial enough to use it without something on top of it. That wasn’t my intention, so I’m very happy with it. It is fine under a spread. The blanket is like the ones we had when we were growing up. At the stores, you can't fine ones that have the satin around them. It is also very well made. This blanket keeps you warm, but not sweaty. It is VERY large, pretty much brushing the floor all the way around. It looks nice, a basic but pleasing pattern. It does have a bit of a wool smell, but it dissipates over a few days, and isn't strong or unpleasant, but it is there.Warm, no static, and a great value.
